1905
Window and Door Factory Established
The original 1201 Jackson Street NE is constructed as a three-story window and door factory.
1920
Transformation to Grain Mill
Major additions are made, including the main grain elevator, and the site is converted into a grain mill.
Purity Oats Era
General Mills acquires the site and operates it as the Purity Oats Plant for several decades.
1940s and Beyond
Expansion and Growth
Additional expansions and structures are added to support ongoing mill operations.

2019
Ownership Changes Hands
General Mills sells the property to Hillcrest Development LLLP. Purity Oats ceases production and vacate the mill and elevator.
Early 21st Century
Redevelopment Vision
Hillcrest begins planning the revitalization of the site into a vibrant commercial destination. Five small silos and several one- and two-story structures are removed, while the main tower, six large silos, and three other connected buildings are preserved.
Today
Highlight Tower — Ready To Emerge
The historic building is reborn as Highlight Tower, part of the Highlight Center campus. With up to 80,000 SF of customizable space, rooftop decks, destination retail, and modern amenities, it will bridge Minneapolis’s industrious past with its creative, entrepreneurial future.
